{"id":2239,"date":"2024-07-01T20:13:23","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T20:13:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/business.sbceo.org\/apportionments\/?p=2239"},"modified":"2024-07-01T17:31:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T00:31:03","slug":"2024%c2%9625-pupil-estimates-for-new-or-significantly-expanding-charters-attendance-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/business.sbceo.org\/apportionments\/?p=2239","title":{"rendered":"2024\u009625 Pupil Estimates for New or Significantly Expanding Charters Attendance Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"postie-post\">\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Hello,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">You are receiving this message because you have subscribed to the Principal Apportionment (PASE) listserv.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">This e-mail is being sent to the PASE listserv, but this report is only applicable to charters that fit one of the criteria listed below under &#8220;Who May Submit.&#8221; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>PUPIL ESTIMATES FOR NEW OR SIGNIFICANTLY EXPANDING CHARTERS (PENSEC)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The fiscal year (FY) 2024&#8211;25 report of PENSEC, managed by the California Department of Education (CDE) School Fiscal Services Division, is now available on the Charter School Funding web page in the Special Advance tab at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/fg\/aa\/pa\/csfunding.asp?tabsection=2#PENSEC\">https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/fg\/aa\/pa\/csfunding.asp?tabsection=2#PENSEC<\/a>. Charter schools that are new (including new for funding purposes) or significantly expanding in FY 2024&#8211;25 may receive special advance funding for the Principal Apportionment (e.g., Local Control Funding Formula state aid, Education Protection Account state aid) and\/or allocations of federal categorical programs (e.g., Title I, Title II, Title III) by filing a report. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>INSTRUCTIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">In addition to the following information, detailed PENSEC instructions are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/fg\/aa\/pa\/pensecinstr.asp\">https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/fg\/aa\/pa\/pensecinstr.asp<\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>WHO MAY SUBMIT<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Charter schools eligible to submit the FY 2024&#8211;25 PENSEC report include:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">New charter schools in their first year of operation that will commence instruction by September 30, 2024. A charter is usually also considered new for PENSEC purposes if it is operating under a new charter number. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Significantly expanding charter schools in FY 2024&#8211;25, which includes schools that are adding one or more grade levels and schools that are increasing enrollment by at least 25 percent due to the addition of an educational program in a major curriculum area or other event deemed significant by the CDE. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>FILING DEADLINES<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The filing deadline for submitting all FY 2024&#8211;25 PENSEC data (submitted online) to the CDE (<a>both<\/a>&nbsp;state and federal data) is <strong>July 31, 2024<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">In addition to submitting the data online to the CDE, reports that include average daily attendance data also require that a printed hard copy certification be signed with wet signatures by all parties, saved as a PDF file, and then transmitted to the CDE electronically to <a href=\"mailto:csspecialadvance@cde.ca.gov\"><a href=\"mailto:csspecialadvance@cde.ca.gov\" >csspecialadvance@cde.ca.gov<\/a><\/a> no later than <strong>July 31, 2024<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Be sure to allow time for all levels (i.e. charter school, school district, county office of education) to review the data, sign, and submit the certification to the CDE by the deadline. Data or certifications received by the CDE after <strong>July 31, 2024<\/strong> may cause the charter school to wait until a later apportionment to receive state funding or to be ineligible for some federal funding in the current year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>PINs<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">A personal identification number (PIN) is required to logon to the PENSEC.
