Attendance Recovery Webinar
On Wednesday March 19, 2025, at 10:00 am, the California Department of Education’s School Fiscal Services Division (SFSD) will present a 90-minute webinar on Attendance Recovery, a new program available to school districts, county offices of education, and classroom-based charter schools beginning in fiscal year 2025-26.
Attendance Recovery is a voluntary program that enables students to recoup absences for the purpose of apportionment by attending supplementary sessions outside of the regularly scheduled school day on weekends, before- or afterschool time, and intersession days. Local educational agencies (LEAs) will decide locally whether to offer an Attendance Recovery program, and how to schedule it.
The presentation will provide an overview of eligibility criteria and requirements for generating and claiming attendance through Attendance Recovery under Education Code 46211 (Chapter 38, Statutes of 2024), as well as how Attendance Recovery interacts with Expanded Learning Opportunity Programs and absence data reporting for California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS).
This webinar is intended for local educational agency staff responsible for ensuring compliance with attendance accounting requirements at LEAs that are considering implementing an Attendance Recovery program.
