The California Department of Education (CDE) has updated its Frequently Asked Questions on Attendance Recovery (AR) programs:
www.cde.ca.gov/fg/it/aarecovery.asp
Starting in fiscal year 2025-26, local educational agencies (LEAs) may offer AR programs to increase student access to instruction and recover funding dependent on average daily attendance.
New FAQs on the following topics have recently been added to the Attendance Recovery<www.cde.ca.gov/fg/it/aarecovery.asp> web page:
* Program Requirements: * Providing AR at least once per school term, when offered * Absences ineligible for AR due to suspensions or lack of immunizations * Meal requirement for AR offered on weekends or intersession days * ADA Reporting: * Accounting for AR participation in one-hour increments * Absence reporting: * Student-level absence data reporting to CALPADS * AR and Expanded Learning Opportunity Programs (ELO-P): * Concurrent AR & ELO-P programs * Allowable use of ELO-P funds for AR * Applicability of ELO-P fees
In addition, several other revisions provide minor clarifications to existing CDE guidance on AR.
For questions on AR, please contact the relevant CDE office provided at the bottom of each section of the AR FAQs.
Questions on attendance for apportionment and instructional time should be sent to the Attendance Accounting Office at AttendanceAccounting@cde.ca.gov<file:///G:/DATA/PA/Correspondence/Listserv%20Messages/2025-26/Drafts/AttendanceAccounting@cde.ca.gov>.
