To: Superintendents, Board Members, CBOs, and Cabinet Members
Governor Newsom has announced that tomorrow (Friday) at approximately 10am, he will release the May Revision to his original January budget proposal for 2022-23 (see here<www.gov.ca.gov/2022/05/10/friday-governor-newsom-to-release-revised-budget-plan-in-sacramento/>). His announcement will include updates to state revenues, which are significantly higher than projected in January. He will also share his vision for spending those monies, including the context and proposed increases to LCFF, allocations to restricted programs, and one-time allocations. The May Revision also marks the beginning of final budget negotiations between the governor and legislature since the legislature must submit a budget to the governor by June 15.
